PerfectTUNES        { Help Index   >   ReplayGain } Replaygain is a method of matching volume across albums (album gain), or individual tracks (track gain), to allow playback using a compatible player have a uniform loudness. Volume adjustments are written to ID Tags, original audio is not altered. A compatible player can read these tags and adjust the volume of that track on playback. Any albums without gain are listed separately, allowing gain to be calculated for those tracks with Fix Albums. Calculate All is present on the Total Albums page, that is albums with Gain already, will re-do all ReplayGain values for every album.

Options The spanner icon in the top corner gives access to the following options. By default Track and Album gain is written, calculated with EBR128 and a LUFS of -18 target volume. These settings can be changed, also iTunesNORM gain can be set to be written for Apple players. True Peak Factor oversamples the audio, as many DACs do, which can introduce further slight gain increases. This option is used for calculating the peak values which a player uses to stop clipping.
